We’re hiring Organizing & Advocacy, Communications & Development, and Public Policy Interns!
MASSCreative is working to increase public funding for arts and culture, ensure arts education for every child, preserve creative spaces, and make arts, culture, and creativity a prominent issue in all elections in the Commonwealth. We’re looking for 3-5 interns to help build and mobilize our grassroots network of arts leaders and supporters.
MASSCreative seeks arts advocacy interns interested in campaign organizing, social media and communications, policy research, and/or fundraising and development. The organizing and advocacy intern will be a passionate leader who wants to mobilize around art-forward policies, candidates and issues. The intern will be in the forefront of MASSCreative’s digital and grassroot organizing efforts, as well as conduct policy research, drafting and editing. The organizing and advocacy intern will attend events on behalf of MASSCreative and represent the organization’s core values. They will work closely with the director of organizing and create weekly goals to amplify MASSCreative’s political arts and culture efforts.
Internships at MASSCreative are 3-4 months and will require time in our office in Boston, in addition to events throughout the Commonwealth.
MASSCreative can support interns working through career development programs in high school, college, graduate programs or community nonprofits. Interns not working through career development programs that offer financial assistance are eligible for a stipend from MASSCreative.

Organizing and Advocacy Intern Responsibilities:
Support the director of organizing’s efforts to create a sustainable volunteer base for MASSCreative
Recruit, train, and mobilize arts and cultural creative community leaders and supporters to take part in advocacy campaigns
Utilize social media tools to broadcast compelling stories from the creative community and build a robust online movement
Analyze policy affecting the creative sector and contribute to MASSCreative’s policy platform and initiatives
Support the implementation of MASSCreative’s Create The Vote campaign
What Makes for a Successful Organizing and Advocacy Intern:
A desire to better understand the legislative process and the roles advocates and lawmakers play
Has experience as a volunteer in a campaign or campus group advocating for change
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with policy development or the desire to quickly learn
A commitment to rethinking and re-centering legislation towards equitable outcomes

Communications and Development Intern Responsibilities:
Support the director of external relations’ strategic external and internal communication plans
Help generate awareness of social media presence and the new MASSCreative brand through social media outreach
Design and curate a MASSCreative TikTok account to amplify storytelling and sector casemaking
Assist with execution of major fundraising campaigns
What Makes for a Successful Communications and Development Intern:
Possesses an in-depth understanding of every social media platform including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with policy development or the desire to quickly learn quickly
Eager to thoughtfully and creatively promote MASSCreative’s work and uplift the creative community

Public Policy Intern Responsibilities:
Analyzing state budget trends and identifying opportunities for increased public support for arts, culture, and creativity
Writing fact sheets that explains legislation that MASSCreative supports.
Planning advocacy meetings with elected officials
What Makes for a Successful Public Policy Intern:
Possesses an in-depth understanding of the legislative process and a desire to help build relationships with legislators and community members
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with policy development or the desire to quickly learn quickly
A commitment to rethinking and re-centering legislation towards equitable outcomes
